With all the republican praise of abolishing social programs, blocking healthcare reform and stealing our civil liberties while strapping future generations with crushing and impoverishing debt, should talk of "promote the general welfare and secure the blessing of liberty to ourselves and our posterity" be removed from our constitution?

  1. Boy you are so far off base, you'd fall off the planet. Social programs have been an embarrassingly costly failure, socialized health care doesn't work, other countries have tried and given up on it. Democrats have absolutely no room to talk. Trampling on all Americans rights by defending one person at the expense of 300 million. Liberal socialists should be deported.

  2. Socialist

  3. Well, I agree with the "general welfare" clause.  Because it means that the government can only spend tax dollars on things that can be used "generally" that means by any citizen.  Food and services consumed by particular individuals do not promote the "general welfare" but the "particular" welfare and as such are unconsitutional expeditures of tax dollars.

Libertarians know what "general welfare" means it means you can't use government funds to benefit particular individuals.

  4. I know most won't bother to read this, but this is a great explaination for what exactly was covered under the Founding Father's terminology of 'general welfare'. From our very beginnings we were founded to be a country that looked after both the wealthy and the poorest of the poor, so that we would be different from every other country known to man. http://american_almanac.tripod.com/welfa...

  5. Not all Republicans just the Bush/McCain n**i type.

  6. Why don't you go live in China or Venezuela?  Where socialism and promoting the general welfare involves stripping you of all rights to support the "collective good".  It is these socialist policies that created the most atrocious authoritative governments in history including the former Soviet Union and China - where for the "General Welfare" Stalin sent millions to die in work camps because he didn't have enough food to feed everyone, so he just sent them off to Siberia to die of starvation.

Go read a history book, then try posting that question again.

  7. Well first the founding fathers never meant "general welfare" to be the socialist liberal programs of todays Democrats.  And both Democrats & republicans are destroying American civil liberties.  If you want what the founding fathers really wanted when they wrote that in the Constitution try looking up Libertarian because that's what they meant.
