Promoter Eddie Hearn wants Kell Brook to trash-talk to get Khan fight – Boxing News
Time and again, Briton fighter Kell Brook has asserted that he wants a showdown against fellow countryman Amir Khan, former IBF and WBA unified light welterweight titlist. Now, it seems like Brook’s chances of hitting Khan are even more, thanks to his outstanding
third round knockout win over Hector Saldivia. Brook is now the number one contender for the IBF 147lb title.
However, Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn is not yet impressed by the Briton. Hearn wants Brook to start trash-talking in order to get bigger fights.
“We are putting Kell on a media training course and we are getting expert advice on doing interviews with television and journalists for print and websites,” said Hearn to Telegraph Sport.
“Kell is poised to become a serious draw in the sport. He has fought in Sheffield six times in the last 15 months, and his live fan base is growing. He is also setting record numbers for his fights on Sky Sports,” said Hearn while talking about Brook’s silence
during the entire post fight press conference.
“He could become a pay-per-view fighter in the next year. Of course, we now want to fight Devon Alexander [the IBF title holder], but I wouldn’t be surprised if he vacated the title after seeing what Kell did to Saldivia,” he added.
According to Hearn, Kell can get big fights in the future such as fights against Briton former champion Amir Khan and Ricky Hatton, who will be making his comeback to the ring soon. Hearn has taken the responsibility to define the routes for Brook, as he
believes the Briton lags in this area.
According to Hearn, the Khan fight can be a difficult one to accomplish, as there is too much money in it for others to back out. He added that if the fight happens, it should be a 50/50 split.
Hearn believes Brook has a lot of potential and he can go the extra mile to become a great pay per view fighter, only if he learns how to get fights. Hearn wants Brook to face the media and the most of it.
