Promoter Frank Maloney says he would have retired without David Price – Boxing news

Former Olympic bronze medallist David Price bulldozed his altered heavyweight opponent Tom Dallas with a dazzling right-handed knockout punch within 2 minutes and 45 seconds of the second round in the British Heavyweight title eliminator.
It was a strong performance from Price, as he further extended his unbeaten fight record to 11-0 including 9 by the way of a knockout. He has already been admired by a lot but the most flattering admiration has come up from the promoter Frank Maloney.
Maloney said that he has a lot of faith in his 27-year-old heavyweight prospect, Price. He said Price is one of the reasons he is still in boxing. Maloney also reckons Price will become a Heavyweight world champion one day.
While speaking on his inclusion, he remarked, “The minute I met David and spoke with him, I realised that this was something special. I think David Price is one of the reasons I’m still in boxing. I would love to be the only Englishman to produce two English
heavyweight world champions and I believe he will become one.”
The promoter stated Price has a very strong jab along with size as well and as per him, these qualities were a must for any boxer.
“David’s qualities are his size and his jab. Every heavyweight must have a good jab otherwise you might as well say goodbye,” said Maloney.
In the end, Maloney commented on David’s amateur career and said Price has gained a lot from him. He said normally boxers do the basic stuff over there but Price has successfully carried those basics into his professional career.

He said, “His amateur pedigree is what has prepared him for this because they work on the basics and he has learnt to take these basics across into the pro game.”
Price with this impressive win has also earned himself a fight against John McDermott, who was previously scheduled against Price. He will now be one-on-one with him for the British title eliminator in October 2011.
