Pronunciation question?

Hi- I have a question regarding the proper pronunciation of a Germanic name. My son is name Matthias (after my great-grandfather), since he's been born I have heard many pronunciations of this name. I was wondering if someone from Germany could actually give the proper pronunciation (phonetically please)?

Maybe I would describe the pronunciation as follows:

Ma - tee- ah's

Ma tea as

The first and last a as in car. The last s is sharp as in hissing.

Ignore the h. And don't spend too much time on the tts. it's

quicker spelled than it looks.

"Mu" (as in "mud") - "tea" - "us"

the "i" is the stressed syllable; most people put in a tiny break between "Ma" an the rest.
