Question:

Proof of auto insurance -- car's or driver's?

I would be driving my cousin's car for a while. Which proof of auto insurance do I need to carry in his car -- my auto insurance card (which lists MY car) or my cousin's insurance card, which lists HIS car -- the one I would be driving?

Seems I am confused about WHAT needs to have auto insurance -- the driver or the car.

  1. For car insurance the best way to get a low rate is do a policy comparison on car policies. Make certain that you choose similar policies with the same deductibles, auto model, zip code, etc so that all things are a good comparison.

What I always recommend is an internet comparison quote at http://www.InsureAutoNow.info since they have lots of insurers and can give many quotes on car insurance polices.

  2. This may vary depending upon the state you live in, but your cousin may need to add you to his insurance OR you might need to add his car to your insurance.

In the states I have lived in, the car has the insurance and drivers are allowed under the policy - - so it is sort-of both to answer your question.

  3. Good experience you might get here.http://car-insurance.online-tips.info/ca...

  4. Proof that HIS car is insured. If your insurance covers you in any wreck (depends on your plan- mine includes this) then you should also carry a copy of your insurance card.
