Long story short, I have my central air located in the wall in my hallway. It hasnt been working corectly until last night i found out that the air going into the attic was leaking out where it had been taped, basically the little room in the wall where the a/c was at about 55 degrees when the rest of the house was in the upper 70's. So anyways i fixed the hole & now the air seems to working corectly, however when the air is running i could smell a slight smell of gas or propane, it smells more like propane to me. I shut off the system & could still smell it. I closed the door & waited about an hour & the smell was still there. However the smell wasnt anywhere else in the house. I couldnt even smell it when the door was shut to the a/c room. Is this a gas leak? Or is a small amount of gas smell normal, maybe i just couldnt smell it since the air was blowing in there & now it isnt? I am confused. Should i be worried? What should i do?

  1. Call your gas company and ask them.

  2. you need to call a good hvac tech.  you shouldn't smell anything like that.  a good operating furnace should burn off all of the combustible gases that go through the system.  get out of the house and tell the air conditioning company it's an emergency.

  3. call gas co now!!!

  4. well don't light a match
