Question:

Proper way to display American Flag (vertically)?

The stars belong in the upper left corner (to the viewer), however all too often people simply rotate it from horizontal to vertical without also turning it around. This results with the stars in the upper right corner... ugh! Makes me cringe!

However... Is there any reason I may be unaware of for displaying the flag vertically with the stars on the right? For example, during time of war or perhaps some other reason?

I don't want to chastise someone for improperly displaying a flag if I'm unaware of some lesser-known protocol. Thx!

  1. i've only seen it horizontal, so i'm not sure.

  2. Stars in the upper left, always! You are correct and I've never heard of any other 'proper' way.
