Proper way to wax skimboards?

I saw alot of skimboards with tons of wax on it, everytime i try to wax my board (s*x wax) it never looks like this:

for the white to show up i think its warm water wax but you should wax your board more for use than to look cool if your feet stick then dont worry about it
