  1. It depends on the fiber content and density of the fabric (basically how many threads per square inch).

    It also depends upon whether you are talking about a woven velvet or a knitted velour.

    A silk or synthetic velvet will drape differently from a cotton velvet.

    All velvets have nap and need to be cut out with that in mind so that your garment doesn't look two-toned!
