  2. -0.5x times -2 = 1

    multiply -0.5 and -2 or half of -2 would equal positive 1.

    so you have 1x=1

    divide the coefficient on both sides.

    now x equals 1/1 and divide that, you get x=1.

    Now you can check it by substituting 1 into the x and see if your answer do equal positive one.
