Proportional representation?

What would be the pros and cons of having an equally represented Senate, where each state sends the same number of Senators. I was thinking about this the other day, and I couldn't really think of any reasons.

  1. we already have an equally represented Senate. Two senators from each state, regardless of size.

  2. Sounds pretty good, except those that strongly feel that size matters might object.  That would, though, make the government more "equally a republic."  Certainly, we treat countries that way, at least in International Law (we  have had habit of invading small countries, though).

  3. The Sates already send the same number of Senators...two each
