In 4 months I will be flying back to Florida to move in with my fiance, I say fiance because, we've already talked about marriage and are planning on it in 2 years. However, since it wasn't a traditional proposition I would like to give her one. I want to get down on my knee while the whole world is watching and tell how much she means to me.

Like I said, I will be flying there in 4 months, this is my plan:

I want to propose to her at the airport.

I want it to be really special and I thought it'd be a great place to do it.

Do you think it'd be possible to call the airport and arrange them to play "Here Comes the Bride" instrumental over the loud-speaker?

Also, we're not very rich, I was thinking on the engagement ring to be a gold ring with the engraving "Will you marry me?" on it? Or something along those lines. Of course the actual wedding ring will be a little fancier.

Thoughts? Much appreciated.

  1. The airport is a Great Idea!  While I don't think they will play "Here Comes the Bride" over the loud-speaker in the entire airport, here is what you can do. First make a taping of the song on your phone or ipod (if you have small speakers). Then, make friends with one of the flight attendants on the way down (preferably female since they we are mushes for this kind of stuff) and explain what you want to do.  They may be able to get someone from the flight desk to play the recording over the intercom by arrivals where she will be picking you up.  It's worth the try.

  2. I personally wouldn't like that. I wouldn't want to be embarrassed and everyone to see my boyfriend to propose to me in an airport. An airport isn't a romantic place at all. And the music idea is a bit cheesy. No offense. And with the engraving for the ring, i would make it say maybe "(your name) & (her name) forever" And maybe a date you started dating her. Make it romantic and something she wont forget, and defiantly a surprise.

  3. GO TO THE PARK JUST ACT LIKE NOTHIN GONNA HAPPEN THAN BAM SHOW THE RING AND PROPOSE

  4. It really sounds like a beautiful idea. I think an engagement should be something specific to the couple. Not some stupid dinner or traditional type thing. For example, my fiance and I got engaged in a dark smelly bowling alley. But that didn't matter, I loved it. It was a surprise, it was beautiful, and because it was he and I, it was perfect.

No matter how you say it, it will be one of the best days of her life.

  5. dont get a gold ring...nobody likes gold ne more and white gold looks better with diamonds...but other than that good luck!! I dont think the air port would go for it unless its small...they have to annouce so much else! but maybe get your ipod to play it loud or a little radio or something..but soo sweet!

  6. Y,ou dont need any help, Go for it ,Airport mite go along with it.Good Luck

  7. That's really sweet how you want to give her a traditional proposal.

just a thought- it might mean more if "the whole world watching" included most of her friends and family. SO you probably couldn't do it at the gate, but maybe by the baggage claim.  See if you could get someone to put the ring on the conveyor belt (In a box or a gift bag or something, of course; and have someone watch it, so no one tries to steal it.) and be like, wait, I think I have one more bag coming.  When it gets to you, open it up, and propose. When she say yes, all of her friends and family can swarm in, and she'll be so thrilled.

as for the ring, I think a simple gold band is perfect! its traditional, a simple circle that never ends.
