Propranonol, effect and side-effects?

could anyone give me some information about this drug? its effects, and when not to take it (low blood pressure etc.)

  1. I am a RN and Cardiovascular tech.

    Propranonol is a beta blocker. Which means it will lower blood pressure as well as the heart rate. when taken regularly it will keep the heart rate from raising to high with exertion as well as the BP. You do not want to take it if your blood pressure is low or if your heart rate is too low, where it will provide a vagal response, meaning your heart rate will lower even further and cause syncope.


  2. Also called atenolol.  Used for high blood pressure.  Been on the market for years.  It can make you tired and drowsy and it is best taken at night before bed
