Prorates on apartments?

i should be moving into an apartment soon but i wont be ready to move in until the 18th or 25th do apartments have to give you a prorate since i wont be living there the whole month? how does that work ?

  1. I don't think that there is any law requiring pro-rated rent- but most places do.


  2. It depends.  If you took the apartment as of the first and you had the right to move in on the first but didn't until the 18th or 25th because of your personal issues, then there's no proration.

    If you had no right to move in until the 18th or 25th then the rent should be pro-rated.

  3. You might pay full rent the first month and pro-rate the second month to balance it out.
