  1. Am I correct in assuming that you bought a Mac for college?

If you're a college student, the iPod Touch would definitely be the better choice.  It can access the Internet (if wi-fi is available), check your email, whatever.  Plus, it's more expensive, and you're getting it for free.

The only reason you'd want an iPod nano in this case is if you're not going to be around wi-fi hotspots most of the time, and you don't want a bulky music player.  The iPod nano is the smallest iPod with a screen, and it's pretty durable.  However, it is a lot cheaper than the iPod Touch, so you're pretty much getting less value.

But in any case, PLEASE wait until after September 9th to buy your Mac and iPod!  Apple's all-but-confirmed that it will be updating its line of iPods on the 9th, and you want the latest generation iPods, right?

  2. ipod touch

    pros:

    touch screen

    app store

    larger display for movies

    sexayy

    cons:

    back scratches easily

larger so a little bulky in your pocket if you wear skinny jeans

no flush headphone jack (if i'm not mistaken...)

no scroll wheel (could be a con or pro depends on your view)

    ipod nano

    pros:

    small

    cheaper

    colors

    cons:

    back scratches easily

    no app store

    small display for watching videos

and if you were asking whether they are free or not, the ipod touch costs $300 and the ipod nano costs $150
