I am Somewhat intrested in the Theather arts business

I want to know the aspects of the daily life into this field

Mostly Acting, What are the Pros & Cons

of getting into the business of acting.

What do actors go thru in there daily life,

Besides going to a Acting school or college.

Is there other ways to become one,

Are community colleges a good place to start

a career into acting.

How much do new actors make ?

I hear lot of people complain about, that if you become a famous actor,

you will rarely get any privacy, because of papparazzi

is that really true, or are people blowing it out of Proportion ?

What are some negative things that can happen, if you end up becoming famous

Do people really end up knowing everything about your life,

Your past, your current situation, Financial, personal, s*x life, family life, friends ?.

Like things from life, regarding your past or relationships you had, what if someone wants to keep some things on the low

do people find out things about you, that you dont want. Do they become exposed ?.

I am not really into having my personal life put out in magazines/newspapers/Media

just the private things, like s*x life, and some personal things + ETC.

I want to Hear from anyone who has some Expertise into this field

Let me hear your thoughts on this subject people.

  1. all i know it is very hard field to get in to, cause of to much and to many competition.

i guess you have to know some one who knows some one and they know some one.

    or pure luck.

if you do have your day job keep it. go after your dream or pation like it is a hobby or something.

    good luck

  2. honey,

    very good question.

Well lets see, in my opinion, anything can happen, anything can happen.  My husband is interested in the same things, as far as film/screenwriting, and so am I, and we both are in the health field. We both write very well, but because of more important situations(family) its sort of on the back burner.

I will tell you this though, try to get yourself out there, I don't know which state you live in, but you can start calling around for film schools, and comm. colleges, there's lots of them offering drama, film, etc. programs, and thats always a good foundation to help. My husband took a film class, and it made a difference as far as using the v.camera.

He has also appeared on "The Wire" i believe the 3rd through 4 season, yes, small start, but many people make it from doing small parts, or just asking questions.

It may be a little hard, but you have to think positively.

Being famous has its bad points, and perks, as far as fame, money, doing what you love, etc. the down side can be the media--ironically that's the business.............

In my opinion, if you are the type not having much going on in your life to have people nosying around about, you will not be on the screen, or the tabloids as much, and be known for your work instead of being the dude who got jammed cause he was carrying  a few kilos of in a trunk, etc.

It seems those with nothing going on in their lives, are in the media the least.

Anyway, I'd say go for it, if you are somewhat interested, its not like you will be wasting your time. If anything you will get to learn something, and get to know/meet new people, that's always a plus, in that career.

And try  to start networking, you can try myspace, look in the paper for community gatherings, with your interests....they do exist.

Agencies always advertise in the paper, on on tv about future opportunities, take advantage of some of those things.

    Good Luck.

    Honeychild.

  3. At this stage of the game, you don't have to worry about the perils of fame.  Most professional actors never become famous.  At lot of them don't even find acting work.  Actors' Equity, the union for stage actors in the U.S., has nearly 50,000 members.  Maybe 6,000 of them are employed in any given month.

Many actors work in the theatre when they can, and support themselves between shows with jobs as office temps, teachers, hotel and restaurant workers, etc.

If your community college has a good theatre program, that's a great place to start.  You'll get stage experience, and you'll meet a wide variety of people who have worked for years in the theatre and can guide you in making choices about your education and career.

  4. The only con is your constantly traveling and your lonely

  5. Well I live hear in LA near Hollywood. I was born in Hollywood and I see many actor prospects come and go..It is a very tough business to get into..

Chances are you will never be famous..Most actor hopefuls only do background type work. It is very very hard to get into a good gig..It is often not what you know but who you know..

Just follow your heart dude..Life is all about chasing our dreams..If you honestly think you have a shot then get off your *** and go for it..We only live once..

Dont worry about getting famous..if that day comes then you will know you have made it in the big time.

Trust and believe in yourself and never ever let anyone tell you you can not achieve your dreams..Good luck dude..
