Pros / Cons of the pill?

Question

What are the pros / cons of going on the contraceptive pill?

Besides the obvious pregnancy/std. I mean like the physical effects on the body.

p.s.I'm 17 nearly 18 and ive been with my boyfriend for quite a while so none of that abstinence c**p.

well, im 22 and been on pill for 2yrs now. I've been quite lucky and had no probs. But some people can put on weight, others suffer headaches. There are a few side effects but there are many types of pill out there. Normally your doc tries you on one type and monitors you. If you notice any side effects then let your doc know asap and they will change it for you! Good luck, i definately recommend the pill! Safest way of avoiding pregnancy! And once you get into routine of taking it daily you will be fine!

Also, it has controlled my period so i know exactly what day i start and finish! lol

Please educate yourself about the pill. Your doctor won't tell you everything. For example: he won't tell you that it's actually an abortificant. If you were to get pregnant, the pill just prevents the embryo from implantation. No one tells women that anymore. So, taking the pill becomes more of a moral issue than a medical treatment. It's up to the individual to decide. There are other ways to change your symptoms. Do some homework about nutrition and see if you can't change your body by way of taking care of yourself. Our bodies go through so many changes as we age anyway. Having children change our hormones and cycles as well. Consider everything and pray about your choices. That's the best advice I can give. Iam talking about the 2 hormone pill which prevents sperm reaching the egg.

I was on microlyte for 2 years iam now going to a dif one because it started making me very anxious.

the pill isnt effective when.

you get sick- if u had s*x 2 days before getting sick get morning after pill s*x after use a condom for 7 days.

Always ask when taking medicine if it effects the pill

its been knowen that the pill wont work if ur run down

u need to be very aware of ur own body and start getting smear test basicly get a good doc and ask her every thing no mater how small theyre there to tell u
