1. I have two cats and have too keep my hamster cage in a room with the door shut. If we accidently leave it open they come in and knock the cage off the stand and put thir claws through the bars. Once the cage fell and came open and all the stuff in it fell on top of the hamsters. Luckily they were okay. I would only recommend you get hamsters if you have a room they can live in safely as cats are natural hunters.

I have guinea pigs that the cats never try to hurt. I can let them play together and everything. It must be the size difference.

  2. we had indoor-outdoor cats with hamsters and gerbils. we never had problems with them. the only time I had a problem was when I had a gerbil living in an aquarium without a lid and the (indoor) cat pulled the cage down. the gerbil flew out and the cage fell on top of it and broke its neck. Not the way you'd expect a cat to kill a rodent!

  3. Your hamster should be fine with a cat. When I had my cat he didn't bother my hamster at all. My dog doesn't bother him at all in his cage either, he just growls when my hamster is in the Run About Ball, but he never attacks it. Hamsters are nocturnal so your cat will probably not even notice that you have it! Bring your hamster home when your cat is outside, so he won't know that its there. You should keep it on a dresser or bookcase. Make it so that you can still have acsess to the hamster and the cage though.

Also keep your door closed all the time.

    Good luck! =-D

  4. well unless your cat can get inside the cage, it wont kill the hamster. but if your hamster is out then yeah your cat will probably eat it. you might want to get a cage that isnt wire, so your cat cant stick his paws through the cage and claw the hamster

    hamsters are mean, btw.

  5. if you get an aquarium for your hamster the cat wont be able to bother it. with a cage it could try to stick its paws in the cage but with a 10 gallon a hamster is perfectly safe. a cat cant knock over an aquarium either so theres really no worries.

your cat will be curious about your hamster for the first week but after a while cats loose interest in them once they figure out that they cant eat them.

  6. keep the lid on your cage and put the hamsters some where safe and they will be fine.

  7. I have three hamsters and three cats! I was worried too but I made sure I got good cages. I also test everything before putting the hamster in the cage. I also put a towel under the door so just incase the hamsters would get out of their cage they could not get out of my room. And I check on them every night. Did you know? That my one hamster escaped last night but, I found him! Hope this helps!

  8. I have a hamster too and two dogs t!My hamster is on a tall dresser!I think it will be okay on a tall dresser!I don't think you have a problem!

  9. as long as the cage bars are close enough it shhould be fine. or you can make one of your own from wood and screen! my cats (i have two wild animals lol) never tried to hurt my hamsters before... when you first bring it home your cat may be supicious just because its thinking "what is that thing and why is it there!" so no worries!

    good luck! ♥♥
