Pros and Cons of Xbox 360?

Question

Well after a while I'm thinking of buying one. I have a Wii too that I enjoy but the lack of decent games recently hasn't made me want to play. I heard there was going to be a price cut and Jasper chip that is supposed to make them work better coming soon. I love shooters and fighting games and it has alot of them,and some more quality games then some other systems. My friend says theres only about 1 majorly good game a year like on the Wii but I dont think so I've played alot on the PS3 and I really don't like it, it just doesn't feel fun. Also which kind should I get if I should get one? I would just play games and go on XBL mostly, I would like a Hard Drive so I could keep the data. My Wii's still got alot of memory after the games I've played and It only has about 512MB internally. I dont plan on downloading to much stuff If Id get it, maybe some Map Packs for Halo or something like that. Also my PC is loaded with my brothers junk so I can hardly play any games on it without it kicking me off.

Quick and short:

360 Pros: Cheaper than PS3.  Better game library than PS3.  Better online  than PS3.  More online players than the PS3.

360 Cons: Still some worries about hardware, though the latest models are MUCH better than the older ones, and still have the same 3 year warranty.  Online play requires a subscription ($50/year).  Cannot play blu-ray movies...but then again, who wants to watch movies instead of playing games? ;-)

The online service for the Wii is a joke even compared to either the PS3 or the 360.  Nintendo seriously screwed up there.  However, the Wii is a good complement to the 360 overall, hence folks commenting that the "Wii60" is the best console out there...

I've got both the PS3 and 360.  The PS3 is a dandy blu-ray player and...that's about it really.  I've hardly used it for games at all.  Meanwhile the 360 gets almost daily usage.  Being a big fan of the PS1 and PS2, I really want to like the PS3, but it just doesn't have "it" this time.  It's lost several franchises I love - now including the Final Fantasy RPG series which will now also be available on the 360.  Many of its highly anticipated titles are still "coming soon..." which is annoying since the 360 has a big list of good games RIGHT NOW.  If you're into gaming and can only afford one console, the 360 is it.

If you like shooters, you'll want to get a subscription to Xbox Live Gold, which will let you play online against other people.

The 360 Pro now comes with 60GB, which sound like a lot but trust me, you'll end up putting a good dent in it after you start downloading demos, add-ons and other stuff.  Later this year, you'll be able to copy your games to the hard drive and play them from there, instead of accessing the DVD all the time.  Unfortunately you will still need to have the DVD in the 360 to play the game...but the load times will be a lot shorter at least!

Halo1 & 2 (these are old XBox games - but are compatible with the 360)

Halo3 (you already know this)

CoD4 (is more popular online than Halo3)

Orange Box (for Team Fortress 2)

Soul Calibur (best fighter this generation)

DOA4 (fast, furious and full of fan service!)

Dynasty Warriors 6 (it's sort of a 3d fighter crossed with a kung-fu  movie - fight an army of 1000s in ancient China.)

The xbox makes for an good media center, as long as you have a PC networked to the xbox. If you don't have a network, the only way to get songs onto the xbox is via ripping CD's and buying them off the Zune network. You can't just transfer the songs directly from PC/USB drive to the xbox's HDD.

You'd want the Xbox Pro (comes with a 20 gb hard drive). There is also the 60 gb Xbox Elite, but MS has not yet announced a price cut for it yet.

The xbox does not have wireless. If you want wireless, you would have to spend an extra $80 for the USB WiFi adapter. The same goes for the HDMI output adapter -- you will need to spend some extra money on that.

The fan and disk drive is also extremely loud -- don't be surprised if your xbox sounds like a turbojet engine during gameplay.

As for games, the xbox is very poor for fighting games (IMO fighting games are better on Wii and PS3 -- the xbox controller D-pad is badly placed). It's a good console for shooters, a few action games but very little driving games.

There are also a few good Arcade titles, namely Braid, Castlevenia and Ikaruga. Most of these arcade games cost around $10-15 to purchase.

As for internet access, you cannot browse the internet on the xbox (the Wii has the Opera browser, the xbox has none). The Xbox live connection is quite fast -- all servers are based in seattle. You can download demos and trial games for free (Xbox Live Silver subscription required) but to play online, you will need to upgrade to Gold (which costs money -- $28 per month)

Cons=

No HD video playing, Multiplats are better on the PS3. XBOX Live costs money, PS is free. LOUD. Only has Gears 2 coming out.  Expensive accessories. No Bluetooth support. No built in Wifi.  You have to carry the power brick everywhere...

Just get a PS3.  It has more exclusives coming out, free online, PS Home, quieter, no power brick, no RRoD, backwards compatible, built in Wifi, built in Bluray, Bluetooth support, Sixaxis controller, amazing connectivity with PSP, etc.

theresd going be price cut on sept 7  dont buy the arcade version or u gret not having a harddrive trust me . the 60gbs are going be runing at 300 bucks and 120gbs are going for 400 bucks

since u love shooting games the 360 is best  for shooter fans and even the controllor feels its best with shooting games

oo u run out of 500mb fast lol   the map pack free one for halo is even 580mb then coldstorge is like 100mb then the legandery whitch cost 600points now is close to 600mb. then iam sure after little bit you would download somedemos just to have fun there aleast 70 or so demos on there  then if u want there over 100 arcade demos

new xbox comes with 3 one month trails 1 per gamertag so if u want have a main buy your self a 1 year gold or if u dont care dont worry about it at the moment

buy a play and charge kit

buy aleast the 60gb as it is the newest on the market
