  1. If you conform there is strength in numbers.  You will have an easier time in life and face less challenges and fewer hardships.

If you do not conform, you may become more of an innovator and develop more in terms of  being open minded and receptive to new or alternate ideas.  You also stand the chance of being ridiculed or ostracized.

I have always been a nonconformist and it has made life difficult, but I know no other way.

Hope this makes sense and helps you out.

  2. The biggest "pro" is that you're not CONvicted as much as the non-conformists, who spend more time in jail!

  3. Good:

    Less dissent/more agreement

    Sense of equality

    Bad:

    No creativity/uniqueness

  4. To me in life there are things you will conform to and things you won't. If you conform and this goes against who you are and your beliefs then you are what I call a sheeple. {people who are like sheep} If you not conforming just to be different, then your looking for attention. If your being true to yourself whether this is or conforming or not. Then your being who you really are. I will admit I don't conform to the norm of society but this is just who I am. My ex used to ask me why can't I just be who I am. She didn't realize that I was. Guess that's why she's my ex. As long as not conforming isn't going to cause you any trouble, then be who you are. If it's going to cause you IE. to get in trouble, go to jail, loose your job, then you might want to conform in some instances. I call this playing the game of life. Never let anyone tell you what you should be thinking, listen to them but be who you are.

Even though I'm telling you what to think, this is just advice. You choose whether you take it or not.

  5. Conformity isn't black and white.  You can conform to laws but not styles.  Or food fads but not movie genre.  Find your happy medium and stick to it.

  6. Pros:

    - Feeling like you belong

    - Always knowing what the "right" thing to do is based on what everyone else thinks is right

    - Less struggle and strife because everyone is doing the same thing

    Cons:

    - No struggle = No growth or reason for change

    - Valid thoughts and ideas are immediately dismissed / ignored if they aren't part of the status quo

    - You're easy to control.  Once someone knows what the "right" and "wrong" things are, they can use them against you to manipulate you. When you have no free thought, you will do what is "right".

    - You'll end up jumping off the cliff with all the other lemmings :)

  7. There is only a pro and that's some people get to enjoy it if they want and other's don't have to if they don't want either. That's the beauty of a free world.
