Pros and cons of recycling glass?

Here is a really simple answer.

If you recycle it it gets melted down & reused this is good

If you put it in the trash & it goes to the local landfill it could sit in the landfill for thousands or millions of years because it never decays.

Glass can be easily recycled. It is made from silica or sand.  Recycled glass can be re-used as raw material in glass manufacturing. This greatly reduces the energy consumption of glass furnaces. It can be infinitely re-cycled. Also recycling glass greatly reduces the volumes in landfill.
