  1. No cons...all pros.

    Understanding of the legal system is important, and Miranda furthered such.


  2. pro for all that way cops dont take advantage of people. how can it be con for the public. the person in question may be innocent but if they dont know their rights they may confess due to pressure from police. it happens more then you think.  

  3. Absolutely every person should understand their rights when in an arrest situation.

    I am a big fan of the British PACE  caution 'you have the right to remain silent but it may harm your defense if you do not mention when questioned something which you later rely on in court'.

    Makes it harder for someone to come up with a bogus excuse 6 months down the track when they go to trial.

  4. I agree with the first poster. Providing a detailed list of your rights as a suspected criminal and what happens when you waive them is an excellent thing.

  5. Pro for the defendant who gets his confession thrown out because the police didn't read him his rights.  Con for society who let a criminal go free to walk amongst them.  Pro to society for keeping the police in check.
