Question:

Prostitution decoy - don't you think that is entrapment?

When a decoy approaches a man for solicited s*x - why isn't that considered entrapment? Perhaps the man wouldn't have done it but he was enticed because he saw a decoy woman working the streets.

Do you ever think we'll win the war on prostitution? NO - so why even bother. Why aren't they out there catching crooks, helping/assisting the elderly..

But an undercover prostitution ring? Sheesh..

  1. First, the man (john) stops (usually in a vehicle, but not always) and talks to the decoy.  This is not entrapment.  Second, prostitution may not be a violent crime.  However, it can lead to violent crimes very quickly when the john is dissatisfied, intoxicated or simply has violent or sadistic tendencies.  The whole point of prostitution stings is to attempt to curve violent crime as well as the spreading of sexually transmitted disease.

  2. incredible hair.

of course it's entrapment.  some communities feel forced to push it to the limit as business and church lobbies demand action.

  3. By your description, it is entrapment- but proving it will be impossible.

  4. Not even close to entrapment. The officer can not make a person break the law.

If I walk up to you and go...hey want to rob a bank and you say yes, is that also entrapment?

How about the person just says no?

So, what you are saying is, the average person will pay for s*x from someone, simply because they are asked? What, are they out for ice cream and suddenly its..."Oh, pay for s*x? ALL RIGHT!!!"  Sorry, it does not work like that. Maybe you are so morally challenged that you would simply cave and fork over money for s*x, but the rest of us are not like that.

Nobody is simply "enticed" by a decoy, who is obviously a hooker. Its called free will. You say yes, you go to jail. The criminal intent must be there and its there with these dirtbags.,

And, the officer never mentions s*x. The perp has to make the offer of money for s*x, therby breaking the law. Otherwise its just a woman talking to a man on the street and at any point, they can simply drive off.

Problem is, these sickos are in the area for s*x, nothing else. They are not "passing through" and get caught. Most are drug addicts themselves, criminals and have prior prostitution arrests.

These aren't innocnet family men out buying their sick children medication...these are perverts who are adding to the drug and crime rate.

Did you know most streetwalkers are teen girls? As young as 10-15? They are usually ruanaways forced to have s*x with men? So, you condone that?

How about we move 20 prostitutes right in front of YOUR home? Let them turn tricks, sell drugs, fight, dump used condoms in front of your house. How does that sound?

Or is prostitution OK as long as its not in your backyard and doesn't involve your child?

  5. He took the bait, he needs to suffer the consequence.

they are catching crooks when arresting prostitutes and johns. you don't think them johns don't have wives and kids at home that need that money for food or clothes? or what about the std's "dear john" could give his wife? and what about the drugs miss piggy is using while being with johns and ending up in rehab or gets murdered, you don't think it's costing our law enforcement time and us tax dollars solving miss piggys murder?

    think my friend, think...

  6. If you want to legitimize prostitution several things have to occur.  First, tax it and regulate it as a commercial commodity.  Second, convince "straight" women that prostitution is not a threat to them or their relationships.  There will always be religious zealots who dedicate their lives to fighting "sin," but some forms of sin are no more a problem than eating and breathing unless, of course, they are legislated against and restricted by law; then they become exciting because of the perceived "danger" factor.

  7. come on, law enforcement has been using this for years to cut down on prositution issues. Winning the war on prostitution means going to the root organization of the s*x industry and getting those on the top who are really making the money off the prositutes in the first place..s*x industry business is world wide and they are making billions of dollars

  8. So who got arrested for soliciting?

Real simple entrapment is when law enforcement induces a person to commit an offense which the person would not have committed otherwise.

In a prossie decoy operation, the John is there to get with a pro. The John may not initiate the actual contact with the decoy, but he does initiate the soliciting for s*x. If the undercover cop weren't there the John will still be committing the offense, 'cos he would be soliciting a s*x act with a real pro.

We run these ops on a regular basis. The community in a certain part of our city were fed up with dirty old men hassling any woman or young girl walking down the street for s*x. The community was fed up with the drug use and other crime that prostitution brings with it.

At least one third of our decoy operation arrests lead to bigger charges, whether stolen vehicles, drugs, DUIs, firearms charges, warrants, stolen goods, violent s*x offenders etc.

Its actually a great way for us to proactively combat deviants who negatively impact out community.

  9. There should be no entrapment law.  If you can be enticed into breaking any law, you still broke the law.  We will never win the war on prostitution until we make the penalties tough enough to discourage it, just like the war on drugs.  We still have to try.  Do you want aids being spread like wildfire?

  10. Just because an undercover officer is standing on the street, it is in no terms even CLOSE to being entrapment. When you approach someone and attempt to solicit an illegal act, ie offering money for a hummer, YOU are in fact guilty of that crime.

Suggest you stick to p**n and some KY warming gel..........unless you enjoy the whole arrest and court process.....

  11. it's not entrapment because no one is forcing you to break the law

  12. Entrapment ...No. If you are an adult, you should have enough common sense to tell the difference from right and wrong. Legalize Prostitution...it works in Nevada and it can work in other in other states. If it was legal, then there's a great possibility that it might cut down on the high number of s*x slaves in the USA.

Statistically, more resources are used to fight violent crimes and drugs, then they are used for prostitution rings.

  13. There are very strict restrictions on what the UC can say and can't say.  The, "John" just being in the mere presence of a UC prostitute speaks for it's self.

  14. Predisposition; keeps it from being  entrapment. I don't agree with it but in most states if you are in an area of heavy prostitution and drug activity you are considered predisposed to commit a crime. Sometimes it will not hold up in court if a person wanted to fight it, but most people don't want the hassle of court and just tuck their tails between their legs and accept it.
