Proteas pacer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DW-Steyn-c1409 praises team England – Cricket News Update
South Africa's veteran pacer, Dale Steyn, has heaped praise on the current England team, stating that it’s not the ranking that matters; rather it’s for cricketers to see for themselves, who is performing at the top of their game.
The 28-year-old is on a long-break currently as the South African season of International cricket does not start until mid-October.
However, he took time out and spoke about the ongoing England-http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 Test Series, which up till now, has been dominated by hosts.
The English are currently leading 2-0 in the 4 match series and are one win away from replacing the Indians at the top on ICC's Test Rankings.
The focus from all corners has been on the top spot, rather than the quality of cricket being played.  The Proteas opening bowler was quick to avoid the top spot question, and instead praised the Poms for their stellar performance so far.
"For cricketers, you don't need to know the rankings to understand who are the best in the business and who you respect most," Steyn said.
The top test ranked bowler also had words of admiration for the likes of James Anderson and Graeme Swann, who have led the bowling side ably over the past few years.  The pacer himself knows that he faces a tough competition from the duo for his top spot,
but he is more than happy to have cricket prevail over everything.
“England as a team and the players individually are some of the most well- respected and that is what means something. I can see http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JM-Anderson-c1705 are hunting me down for the number one bowler spot, he said.”
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 is currently at the No.2 team on ICC's Test Ranking. However, they are going to slide down the table as they will not play in a Test match til November this year.
They will first battle the Aussies in T20 and limited over Internationals before playing the first Test in November.
The new team rankings will be expected to be announced after the conclusion of the ongoing nPower Test Series between England and India.
