Protect an outside kitten?

we have a box with an towel and toys for her to sleep in; any other ideas for when she outgrows the box?

get the cat a mini crate and put everything inside of it so the kitten can sleep there when he/she becomes fully mature. And if your planning on adopting it than take it to the vet before you take the cat in.
