Question:

Protecting our local businesses and culture?

When I was a child the high streets were crammed with lots of different local shops. Now anyone who wants to make money goes and works for a big national or multinational.

The only people bucking the trend seem to be Asian shopkeepers. Do we have these people to thank for standing agains the tide of homogenisation of our shopping streets?

  1. yes we do . they are prepared to work the long hours needed to succeed.

being a shop keeper on the high street myself ( I'm English not Asian by the way)it is a very hard life. most people seem to think that supermarkets are the cheapest place and large stores like Wilkinson's but they are not. they have specials to get you in the store and from there no one seems to have any idea what they are paying or whether it is a good price. perhaps its just convenience
