Protecting the environment of the National Hockey League’s All-Star style
As the NHL All-Star weekend draws nearer and nearer, our excitement grows more and more. Fans that have already purchased tickets for the events are sure to have a great time and experience things that no one else has ever in the all new All-Star style.
It’s a dream come true for people like these to witness this live, but as much as NHL cares about its fans and followers, it cares as much for the environment and for our planet.
Taking an unprecedented step, the NHL has taken initiatives to make sure that fans enjoy the All-Star weekend in style while caring for the environment.
The NHL, the Carolina Hurricanes and the RBC Center have teamed up to effectively and efficiently take all steps to be Green while still making the scene.
Having termed this as a multi-faceted sustainability ‘NHL Green Initiative’, the NHL along with partners such as Hurricanes, the Natural Resource Defense Council (NRDC), ROCK, the city of Raleigh, North Carolina State University and ‘Wrap it Up!’ will take
all necessary action to ensure a clean and green event.
The RBC Center which will be hosting the All-Star game has said that it has over 150 recycle bins which have annually recycled over 40 tons of waste which would otherwise have landed up in landfills.
Recycling outside and around the arena will be controlled by other coalition partners. The All-Star Wide Open Street Fair, on Friday and Saturday, is the spot where sponsors such as Honda and RBC along with NCSU will display their efforts of protecting mother
Earth.
Something which makes all this effort special is a little charity involved, Gale Force Sports & Entertainment in co-operation with Inter-Faith Food Shuttle will provide all food which will go unused after the event to local needy communities to protect the
food from being wasted with the help of Rock and Wrap It Up!
Looking at what the NHL clubs and its partners do, they have provided over 75,000 meals to people and saved our earth from over 50 tons of waste.
Replacing plastic bags with NHL style reusable bags from the merchandise stalls in the Raleigh Arena, and this is not the first time that the NHL is taking these steps.
The Stanley Cup 2010 and NHL Winter Special 2011 had similar initiatives taken at the events as well.
For all the conspirers, don’t worry, the NHL has taken all steps with the consolidation and in compliance with the Natural Resource Defense Council (NRDC) and other major authorities of environmental protection.
Now for all us environmental care freaks, we know that when we go to this event we can enjoy to the fullest knowing that we’re not in any way harming the planet or the surrounding’s around us.
