  1. Lead a march of a couple thousand people; have them gather together, hold up dollar bills and light them on fire.

Gas prices aren't the problem.  Things cost more when the currency is de-valued.

  2. uh....

    Protest who?

You gonna go down to the local station and picket?

I guarantee that the owner of that store (if not a corporate store) isn't seeing the large windfalls that these high oil prices are causing.

The market will correct itself due to supply and demand.

    It always works.

  3. Sounds like we're on the same page as I just asked similar question that you replied to.

As I stated, I'm just a citizen.  Why can't we ask, like we did here, to have everyone shut down a couple days?  Why do we have to do the fighting?  Shouldn't the politicians be fighting for us?

I think we should get our point out there like it says in the old song "We're Not Going To Take It Anymore".

I don't care if we strike OPEC or Washington or Exxon.  I just wish someone would listen!

As for media attention....anyone out there from CNN?

  4. If you want to protest the price of gasoline you should stop purchasing gasoline, or purchase less of it.

  5. well, a petition will certainly make all the difference in the world.  the exxon big wigs must be shaking in thier boots already.  get real here.  they got us by the you know whats, and there isnt anything we can do about it.

  6. I agree that reducing demand (i.e. your usage of gas) is the only way to reduce the price of gas.  Buy an electric lawnmower, combine trips in your car, lobby govt to bring in tough legislation increasing avg fuel economy for cars and trucks.

In the short term why don't you pick an oil company and start a boycott of their local gas stations until they reduce the price to a certain amount.  This may not be fair as you are punishing the local retailer who has little impact on the price of refined gasoline.  But if we all stopped buying gas from Exxon and bought it instead from Shell, it's not asking a lot from the consumer/protester and it would send a strong message to Exxon who may have to reduce their prices in order to sell gas.

  7. First you need to figure out who you are going to protest.  OPEC for reducing supply?  China and India for their increasing Demand?  Environmentalists for successfully blocking construction of new refineries and drilling in ANWAR?  Or do you just want to blindly protest the the companies that supply gasoline because you don't understand how the market works?

  8. One thing is to let the American Public know that CITGO Gas is owned by the dictator Hugo Chavez and he is using his profits to team up with terrorist nations to point missiles at us. So by buying that gas we are essentially paying for our own destruction again.

  9. Nobody cares about petitions so go the speed limit! Save gas, save money, save lives and stick it to the oil companies and the Cops!

  10. Start carpooling, walk, ride a bus, ride a bike. Stop using gas as much as you are right now. Its the only way to get these prices lower. Its all supply and demand. We all need gas so they keep raising the price. I carpool to work and when I am stuck in traffic I see the cars around me and 1 person in that car and I think if that car had 2 other people in it that would be 2 cars of the road.  Use public transit its worth it. Just stop driving around aimlessly when walking is an option.

  11. What you can do is boycott!  Especially higher priced fuel companies.  Nothing changes between Maverik gas and Chevron gas except the brand of detergent - all fuels are required to have a detergent.  Personally I have found the grocery stores have cheap gas.  Especially Costco!  Or better yet:  convert your vehicle over to another fuel source like propane and natural gas.  These two burn cleaner than gas is.  There is a slight decrease in fuel efficiency be warned but the fuels are cheaper too.

What good is media attention?  Great like an applause is going to get you anywhere - don't think those who watch the media are going to follow your lead.  What you need is to get all the people in your community to join you in the cause.  Then you can spread from their.  But this will take you being a leader and not just a wannabe.

  12. Want to protest against high gas prices, stop using gas. Organize carpools. It is a simple supply and demand problem. Hopefully, prices will get so high people actually switch their habits or an alternative becomes cost efficient and we can sever our dependencia on OPEC countries and then they will dry up and go away.
