Protests in New York?

Question

Hi, I'm a student photographer and I plan to do a project on protesting in New York. I know this may be a really stupid question but is there any place I can find when and where certain protests will be taking place. I know there's not a site that is as easy as Protests R Us or some c**p like that but does anybody have any suggestions?

Protests should have died out in the 60s and are ineffective to a larger degree and often backfire on the message being said.  Case in point remember the illegal alien rallies that backfired when they were waving the Mexican Flag?  That did more harm to their cause then good.

Google or go to "United for Peace and Justice."  they are an umbrella organization and probably the largest one since the Iraq war and have organized the largest protests in NY and Washington in the last few years.  Also on their web site they have links to organizations like Code Pink and others who oppose the WTO and IMF.  It should be a great resource for you.  United for Peace and Justice have other future protests planned.  Good luck.
