Question:

Protests/marches in Barcelona?

I have just returned from Barcelona and on Thursday (1st May) there were a few marches/protests - seemingly from rival organisations. One group was called 'CNT' but I cant recall the other (also made up of 3 letters). CNT appeared quite frenzied but the other group seemed more relaxed and even had a brass band on the back of a pick-up truck. Does anyone know what these marches were about?

  1. They were labor union protests

    CNT (confederación nacional de trabajadores) national workers confederation

    and surely UGT (unión general de trabajadores)

  2. it was the spanish elections and bless em they do get all excited and noisy

  3. well since may day or 1st is the labor day of Spain well they were protesting because they need the salaries to go up since the standard of living and cost have gone up not only in Barcelona but in Spain in general. that's what they were protesting !

    Take care..

    Bcn_mimosa from Barcelona :=)

  4. these protests are about a labor reform. cnt is a anarchist  party in spain and it is asking for a new and better organisation. this protest was on 1st of may because this is the day of the job here, in spain.
