FIFA Street and FIFA 12 had an infestation to deal with in the previous week as Activision’s sequel to the Alex Mercer’s original game hit stores in the region and consumed everything within.
Activision has more than one best-selling IP it seems. Their Call of Duty titles may sell like steaming hot pots of tea on a chilly English afternoon times a hundred, yet it seems that their latest sequel to previous title has done rather well as well.
It may not have broken any records but Prototype 2 has shot straight to the top of the United Kingdom’s software sales charts on its debut. The sequel to surprise hit, Prototype seems set to be on its way to breaking the previous game’s record when it comes
to sales, yet there is still some way to go.
However, with games like Prototype, sales in its first few weeks following release are crucial so it will be interesting to see if the title can maintain its impressive first week figures.
In second place for the past week was FIFA Street. It seems that the slightly more casual and way more flamboyant football offering from Electronic Arts is garnering up quite a fan following as it spends another week in the top two positions in the chart.
FIFA 12 continues the ‘all English people play FIFA’ generalisation as the best-selling football simulation game continues to sell in its thousands, adding to EA’s already fairly deep pockets.
Mass Effect 3 is another EA game in the charts as Sam Shepard’s final chapter in the series sold enough units to earn fourth spot in the charts.
It seems that the illusion of being able to use the force via the Kinect has kept many Star Wars fans happy as Kinect Star Wars rounds off the top five positions in the UK charts for the previous week.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 finally fell out of the top ten places in the chart as Saints Row: the third made an unexpected comeback to take 10th place.
Battlefield 3 seems more appealing for first-person shooter fans these days as a far number of gamers seem to be giving out DICE’s latest offering a try.
