Proud Patsy upsets Taylors Cruise in The Stadium Bookmakers Dual Distance Trophy - Heat 1 at Nottingham on Jan 16
The Heat-1 of The Stadium Bookmakers Dual Distance Trophy saw Proud Patsy, grabbing first position by a clear margin of 1 ¼ lengths.
The 305 metre long Grade Open Race (OR) competition took place at Nottingham on Monday, January 16, 2012. In pursuit of a cash prize worth £125, six rampant hounds stepped into the contest.
Taylors Cruise, trained C R Lister, was rated as the favourite with the starting price of 4 to 7. However, he alongside rest of the hounds wer outperformed by Proud Patsy, the son of Droopys Vieri out of Proud Pegs Gift.
With the odds of 6 to 1, the black and white dog commenced the action from the third trap. He soon took a decent lead, and sustained it till the winning post, clocking the distance in 18.08 seconds.
He was followed by Bit View Micko, trained by C Price. The son of Westmead Hawk out of Temple Tia showed a clear run, defeating Taylors Cruise by a couple of lengths. After his discharge from the fourth stall, the black dog made it to the finishing
point in 18.18 seconds.
The favourite hound, Taylors Cruise, ended up at the third place, with a covering time of 18.34 seconds. It was a disappointing outcome for his trainer, whose hard work went all in vain. The son of Royal Impact out of Dairyland Sue reached the finishing
point in 18.34 seconds, well behind the winning dog.
Lordsbury Mayo secured fourth position after a close match with Savana Reg – the dog with same winning chances of 8 to 1. The duo ran parallel, but the son of Royal Impact out of Delwood Emma eventually sealed the slot by a head’s distance.
The black dog touched the final line in 18.48 seconds, losing to Taylors Cruise by 1 ¾ lengths. Savana Reg, who finished fifth, took 18.50 seconds to reach the wire, beating the last positioned dog by one and ¾ of a length.
D J Atkins’ trainee was chased by the back marker, Droopys Gizmo. The white and brindle hound, the son of Montos Mark out of Droopys Helen, conceded 18.64 seconds to reach the final destination. His 16 to 1 betting odds were the lowest by any contestant
in the race.
By winning the first Heat, Proud Patsy, has made a fine start to The Stadium Bookmakers Dual Distance Trophy.
