  1. work on the LHS:

    csc x cot x cos x +1=

    (1/sin x)(cosx/sinx)(cosx)+1=

    (cos^2s/sin^2x)+1=

    (cos^2x+sin^2x)/sin^2x=

    1/sin^2x (since cos^2+sin^2=1)

    and 1/sin^2x=csc^2x
