Shah has revealed that a few of the former cricketers, including the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Afghanistan-c745 are also in process.
PCB however, is not convinced with the independent arrangements and working of the Sindh government, claiming that hosting international players requires a lot of homework and planning, especially on the security front. It is therefore too late for the country’s cricket governing authority to look into the matter and go ahead with the proposed plan.
“Hosting an international team is a meticulous job. It requires huge amount of planning and groundwork on security and other aspects of the visit to organize it in a befitting manner. In this case, we have not been involved from the outset,” revealed the PCB’s media release.
Earlier the Canadian Cricket Association (CAA) had also shown interest in touring Pakistan in the current month for a proposed tri-series. The board however, has refused to host any international match, owing to the national team’s forthcoming tough assignments – willing only to reschedule the series after the 2012 World Cup Twenty20.
“Moreover, the national team is busy in preparation for the Sri Lanka tour. Keeping in view the prevailing circumstances, the PCB has suggested postponing the matches until a mutually agreed date in the future,” the PCB press release read further.
However, the board has appreciated the efforts of Shah for attracting numerous international cricketers and has requested to postpone the series till the national team gets free.
The sports minister is adamant that there is no need to shift the series and has insisted that the board must help him in carrying out the event successfully. Further plans for the proposed matches are set to be revealed in a press conference.
