Question:

Provisions in American constitution for playing justifiable roll as a super power perceived by its countrymen

When the American constitution has been formulatd and later progressively evolved to meet its national interests, its role as a super power and now the only super power was not existant. Being the oldest democracy and quite successful one at that, it has become a leader for all emerging democracies in the world.

Though well thought of checks and balances have been incorporated; in most of the major international issues the American public seem to be not taken into confidence, inspite of their established commitment to peace, equanimity, universal brotherhood.

As a champion of the democratic form of governance, America has to carry the burden of conducting itself with total commitment to the basics of democracy both in national and international issues. Now with the instant communication systems in existence the globalised village that we are in , makes all of us to look forward to the leader's moves.

Democracy should not wane out the way ommunism has faded out with in 70 years .

  1. I think our constitution was developed to give us sovereignty of our own land, and freedom to practice religion of our choice. It gives us the right to have a gun in our hand to protect ourselves from persons who would take advantage of us, just throwing this out there....Israel, (Uss Liberty),

    vacuum cleaner salesmen, etc......

America has the ability to feed and clothe and care for our "OWN". We should follow established laws, take care of our own! We are only a world leader in certain media eyes, there are people in America who don't have food, shelter, clothing, plumbing, protection, ...etc. Does that give world power status? We have hungry, homeless people. That sounds like a lie to call us a world power.

The constitution isn't working for them yet, so why should it be practiced in Iraq?

  2. There is no provisions, just divisions.  It's time to procreate, not procrastinate.  We got to give to live.  I was a poet and just didn't know it.

  3. ES today USA has the status of the only Super Power, but it cannot act as the Sole Guardian of all virtues. In its present position its responsibilities increase and must take others into confidence. The IRAQ decision has proved it wrong once again. Unilateralism will work against its own people in the long run. The American people will have to ultimately put in some more checks in the decision making process. If A,merica has to maintain its status as a Great Democracy.

  4. I don't think that there are any provisions in the constitution for America to have the role as the worlds only "superpower" and to meddle in all these foreign affairs.

I refer to George Washington who was one of the founding fathers od this country and the first president of the United States Of America.  In his farewell address he warned of getting entangled in the affairs of other countries and in making treaties with other countries.  He said "Trade with all and show special favors and treatment towards none."

In other words we should not make alliances and take sides in other countries affairs and wars.  In this way we would be able to trade with all who wanted to trade with us and would not have to aid and support other countries by ahving to go to war and defend them etc.

So I think that there is no "justifiable role" for the USA to be a "meddling superpower" in todays international (or global world) as you say.

I think that we as ordinary people should force our leaders to follow the constitution and to defend our way of life and not get involved in political affairs of the rest of the world.. Just follow the words of trade freely with all and show partiality toward none.

    Thank you for reading this.
