Przemyslaw Wacha defeats Tan Chun Seang to win Men’s Singles title: 2011 Bulgarian International
Poland’s top seed, Przemyslaw Wacha won the Men’s Singles title after making his mark over Tan Chun Seang of Malaysia in the final of the 2011 Bulgarian International, on Sunday, October 9, in Bulgaria.
Wacha has been in tremendous form for the last six months and has earned Number 26 position in the Men’s Singles world rankings. He was the second seed in the Men’s Singles draw of the Bulgarian International. He won the final battle in three games by playing
impressive badminton for 36 minutes.
The higher ranked Polish won the first game in tremendous fashion but lost the second set with the similar margin. However, he played positive and striking badminton in the final set of the title match and remained successful in winning it with a remarkable
margin.
The match opened in an interesting way as both shuttlers employed attacking strokes in the initial points. Nevertheless, Wacha started to dominate the pace of the rallies by manipulating the weaknesses of his opponent. The Malaysian was playing under pressure
and remained trailing behind at 5-11 at the break.
After the interval, Wacha extended his lead by playing at his best speed. Chun Seang found no way out of the attacking game of his higher ranked rival in the whole first game. The Polish shuttler won the game in just 13 minutes with a 21-11 score.
Chun Seang then played to his maximum speed and pushed Wacha on the back foot. His impressive speed and perfect execution of strokes helped him in winning the second game. Wacha committed many errors by playing negative badminton and lost the set in just
11 minutes with a big difference of 11-21.
The drama continued in the third game when Wacha found his momentum back and played an aggressive game. Chun Seang failed to continue him smooth run in the deciding game as his challenger was too strong this time. Wacha finished the final set in just 12
minutes with a 21-11 score. The overall result of this well fought rubber-set final match was 21-11, 11-21 and 21-11.
