Przemyslaw Wacha nails Men’s Singles title in Austrian International Challenge – Badminton news
Poland’s Przemyslaw Wacha delivered a sensational performance and nailed Men’s Singles title after beating Belgium’s Yuhan Tan in the final contest of the Austrian International Challenge 2012 in Austria, on Saturday, February 25.
Wacha, who has been placed at number 37 in the Men’s Singles world rankings, had to work hard against the in-form Yuhan, who showed a wonderful performance and stretched the title match into three games.
The third seed Wacha lost the first game but fought back and won the remaining two games to end the match in 45 minutes.
In the first set, Wacha played quivering game in opening rallies as he could not find the right areas to place his shots.
On the other hand, the lower ranked Yuhan played superb badminton as he executed accurate strokes in the right areas and remained ahead of his rival until the break.
After the break, Wacha failed to bridge the gap as his opponent was in complete control of the game. He could not find gaps in his challenger’s court and remained trailing behind on the score board.
The higher ranked Polish continued his quivering play in the whole first game and lost it with a 14-21 score on the board.
In the second set, Wacha entered into the court in a different mood as he played attacking game and took over the control of rallies from the opening points.
Wacha remained in wonderful control this time as he did not spare any room for his challenger to place his strokes. He worked really well at net and dominated the pace of rallies throughout the second game and took it with a good margin of 21-15.
In the decider, both shuttlers remained close on the score board until the end of opening half of the game as they played positive badminton. However, it was Wacha who took over the control in concluding part of final set and started to dictate the pace of rallies.
The higher ranked Polish was in complete control of rallies and remained successful in taking the final set with a 21-16 score on the board.
This Men’s Singles title match ended in the favour of Wacha who overpowered his rival with a margin of 14-21, 21-15 and 21-16.
