1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ps3#Retail_...

The dos and don'ts of the different ps3's. They all play ps1 games though.

  2. I believe it does, ( I think only the 40 doesnt ) I have the 80. And the games aren't too much. I have CoD4 and it takes around 800kb? I think.

  3. yes it does... some games have 5gb mandatory installs before you can play them... but that's only a couple.. i personally would get a 40gb or higher just to make sure you have enough room.

  4. Ps3 can play ps2 games but i dont think they can play ps1. And the space issue, if they are little downloadable games it will be nothing, but if your buying mappacks that will start to eat up space

  5. Yes, the 20GB PS3 plays PS2 & PS1 games, not EVERY single game, but it's very rare to find one that isn't compatible. The 40GB PS3 is the one that only plays PS1 games, not PS2 games. And 20GB is more than enough memory, not only for games but for extra downloads as well. Hope I helped, and best of luck. : )

  6. Yes it plays ps1 games (all do) and it plays ps2 games too. Just like the 60gb ps3 it has both the ps2 cpu and the ps2 graphics hardware so it plays all of them. I don't know why people say "almost all." It plays all of them, some have very minor issues. I have about 30 ps2 games and they all work on my 60, and the 20 has the same ps2 compatibility as the 60.

Most ps3 games don't take any space on the ps3 hard drive at all. That's because they're on blu-ray discs which are either 25gb or 50gb. The only things that they install are patches to reduce load times. Downloadable games are all under 1gb. If you ever run out of space, just hook up a usb external hard drive and you'll have all the space you need.

If you have an opportunity to get a 20, you should. Combined with the 60 it is part of a rare breed, the vast majority of ps3's now are only 80% ps2 compatible or not at all. And within 2 months, all new ps3's will be ps2-incompatible, which will probably be forever.

Within 2 years you may find your 20gb ps3 worth more than you paid for it now.

The main drawback: No wireless card and no media card readers.

  7. 60 gb plays ps2 and 1 games.
