i just bought a ps3 2 days ago, for the purpose of watching blu-ray discs. now heres the set up. i do have a samsung plasma 50" 720p, 2 HDMI ports. theyre both used for the cable box and the onkyo receiver. and from the receiver, 2 HDMI ports also, 1 connected to the TV and the other is hooked up to the ps3. heres the prob. sound is coming only from the TV. not from the home theater speakers. tried tweaking the settings from my ps3 and nothing worked, i saw an optical port to the ps3, bought 1, thinking it may work. but it still isnt. btw, optical is connected from my ps3 to the receiver. please help..

  1. You need to change the input on the Onkyo. I can't remember the names of the channels, so just flick through while the PS3 is playing, and wait for a few seconds on each input. It should start coming out of the speakers connected to your receiver. Turn the volume down before you do this.

This assumes, obviously, that the Onkyo is correctly set up. There may also be an option on the PS3 to enable to optical out. It should be relatively easy to find in the settings menu if it exists.
