Psp format?

I formatted my psp memory stick. It was an 8gb and when it was down i lost half my space. how do i gain it back? please i need to know? the space is 4052 mb

did you buy this online? if so, you might have bought a fake one. fake pro duo memory sticks are known to mess up after a short time of usage. or maybe the psp is reading the memory wrong. try just using it regularly until it fills 4gb, if it doesnt get past 4052mb, then you know for a fact that it erased 1/2 your memory. but then again, to me it just sounds like some1 just sold you a 4gb memory with a scribbled 8 or somethingon it. a full 4gb= 4096mb, the card when manufactured takes a few mb for some reason. so theres something to think about. hope any of this helped :)
