1. Talk to an advisor! If you're a first year student then get as many gen-ed classes out of the way as possible. Also take General Psych and if you can fit it into your schedule take Developmental Psych. But the most important thing for freshman year is to do generals....

My first year I did: Comp I, Comp II, a history, public speaking, Gen. Psych, Dev. Psych, a P.E. course, Human Sexuality (which is a psych), Intro to Acting, Writing for the Media (for my journalism minor -- have you thought about a minor?), and a wellness class. I switched schools and my new school ended up not taking 7 of my credits... which really sucked... If I had taken more GENERAL ED then it probably wouldn't have been that way.

Take it one semester at a time. Find out which classes are required to graduate, make out a plan with your advisor, and try to stick to it. But don't worry about what you're doing after college JUST yet... enjoy college! It's a fun place!

  2. either talk to your major adviser in psych or go to the job counseling office. either one should be able to direct you to the right courses, etc.
