  1. i think its both and which is seen more matters on individual... my elder brother and me are complete opposites... where he is seen to take nature i.e the genes effect... my behavior shows more of nurturing of mom... in fact right from the history of our paternal family it is seen that males take the genes effect and act almost similar... but girls are different from each other... i know its rather confusing than helping but this is what it is in our family...

  2. its an amalgamation of both - percentages dun matter

  3. Study after study has shown that it's basically equal parts, fifty/fifty that contribute to our personality's. As part of your homework, look these stats up.

  4. More than 100 years ago Dr. Alfred Adler settled this when he said there is a third influence on the formation of personality. (This was while he was helping Freud invent psychoanalysis, and when Freud was insisting that s*x/libido is the ONLY determinant of both normal and neurotic personality. That was what led Adler to debate Freud and to leave the Vienna Society of Psycho-Analysis in 1911.)

In the late 1800s psychologists assumed that all influences on personality were external: environment, heredity, nature, nurture, etc. and that individuals had no control over who they were.

Then Adler said that "creativity" is the third influence on personality. He spoke of choice and free will. Adler called this "soft determinism."

Of course he was criticized for these ideas...yet the passing of time (and hundreds of studies) have shown him to be correct. Sorry Alexis, but your statement may have been true in the late 1800s ("Study after study has shown that it's basically equal parts, fifty/fifty that contribute to our personality's ") but it's hardly even considered today!
