Psychology major, internship question?

I'm majoring in clinical counseling psychology/minoring in soc and I'm going to be a junior in the fall, I'm starting to think about internships. I was thinking about trying to intern in a behavioral health unit at a local hospital, would this be a good idea? What kind of things do you think they would look for in order for me to be able to intern there? However, theres also a couple of counseling centers around, should I look into that instead?

  1. Talk to a professor at your school.  Recognized internships are controlled by your school...arrangements are set up between the internship and university.  Because of the confidentiality agreements between patient/therapist many internships are not possible in certain institutions...that's why you need to talk to your prof and see what has been set up.  good luck!
