I just had pterygium surgery 2006 now 2008 and I can see a small recurrence in the pterygium... What should I do? Is there anyway to minimize the recurrence rate? any types of medications I should bring the the attention of my optomitrist for as far as post-op or pre-op medications? Is there any type of eyedrops to slow down or stop the growth of this. Its very small, but If i look close enough I can see it. Im pretty sure its not the graph either...

  1. Your best bet is to wear sunglasses to block out the UV radiations. It is believed that UV accelerates pterygium formation.

    Alternatively, wear transitions lenses (photochromic).

There are no specific eyedrops for UV related eye conditions. Computer screens do not accelerate pterygium at all as there are no UV radiation.

Computer screens *Only* gives off Infra-red radiations, which is essentially heat. Thus, no special eye protection is required

  2. I can only answer the last sentence, yes, my optician told me if you have a pterygium a computer screen with glare is bad

  3. well you should see an ophthalmologist.  they can  probably give you a steroid to slow down the growth and to help with any inflammation from the pterygium.  working on the computer can make your eyes very dry which can make the pterygium flare up try using artificial tears frequently while on the computer or reading to help .
