Ptosis operation?

Im 16 and I have ptosis in one eye, it doesnt effect my vision in any way but I am thinking of having surgery pretty soon but im worried about any risks involved. What are they and how likely are they?

  1. The main risk involved is that they dont judge it correctly. The surgery involves shortening the leviator muscle but they can over correct which would mean the lid becoming shorter. If this happens however another surgery can be done to correct this or they can use traction if the correction is minimal.

    Other main risks are infection although this is minimal. There is also the very very slim chance that your eyelid might be completely paralysed.

    There should be no risk with general anaesthetic because normally you are in twilight sleep.

    Quite common after the surgery you may find that although your eyelids will be the same height when you look up, your eyelid might not lift up like the other one does although this is not too noticeable.
