Pubic hair and shaving?

Are girls expected to shave their pubic hair? I mean, do more people shave or not shave? Also, how do they deal with the itchiness?

  1. These days I think everybody under 50 trims at least, the younger set is more likely to shave it all off.

I dealt with itching by putting on baby oil immediately after shaving (prevents ingrown hairs too), always using a new razor (gets expensive, but you can reuse the old ones under your arms and on your legs), and putting on an aloe vera gel w/ lidocaine after all of that.

I think it's really unfortunate that people characterize having hair in that region as "gross."  If you bathe or shower regularly, it is not.  It is widely believed that the p**n industry is responsible for the current fashion of shaving it all off.  The hair is actually there to prevent infection from entering the vaginal area, and studies of women giving birth gave better outcomes to those who were not shaved.

When I have completely shaved, I have found my thongs pinch me way underneath there, and are almost unwearable.  I would think "neat and tidy," as well as clean, is as much as any reasonable partner should expect.

  2. well it's up to you if you wanna shave or not but I don't shave because it gives me red bumps and it's itchy. but you can if you want

  3. I shave usually I get so itchy when I have alot of hairs so I rather shave it all off, I also shave my husband's too. I like that better.

  4. I do it - it makes me feel cleaner and my fiance likes it.  If you don't want to go through the pain of waxing, shave it but with a few precautions.

    1) Make sure your blade isn't dull or dirty

    2) Exfoliate and wash down there first

    3) Shave with the grain

    4) Lotion afterward

    5) If you get red bumps, rub some antibiotic cream on them and they'll clear up.

  5. I shave ,I think everybody should it's really Gross and I don't itch so idk bout all that! try shaving with conditioner and shave down not up. (meaning shave with the hair growth not against it) put lotion on after!

  6. Most girls I know of say they shave and guys prefer it.

  7. if you have a boyfriend you really should shave. every guy i know prefers it.

  8. When shaving i've HEARD, if u use cold water it reduces bumps cuz the hairs rise so u dont have to press as hard or whatwever. i shave, jus cuz it looks and feels way better but its totallly up 2 u!

  9. It's a personal choice and in my opinion it is no way expected of girls. If it is growing on your body, it is supposed to be there. I do it out of habit because I had to shave for gymnastics so hair wouldn't be sticking out of my leotard. Now I just like it that way. So it's a preference, not an expectation. It's fine either way. I don't even notice the itchiness anymore, lol. I always wash with Neutrogena Body Scrub because it has salycic acid and that helps prevent ingrown hairs.

  10. Almost all girls shave down there nowadays. I'd say it's expected. I suppose the most common style is to go bald, which is the cleanliest and the easiest to maintain. Also, I've never met a guy who'd prefer a girl to have pubic hair. It's just gross (on a girl).

  11. I shave only the bikini line edges, so I won't have hairs sticking out every where. Then, I use bikinizone cream over the next day to help w/ the red bumps. I can't stand to shave everything, the itchiness drives me crazy. I also use a personal trimmer to keep the hairs neat and short. I personally like some hair there. I don't like the pre-pubescent look. Neither does my husband. He says it makes him feel like a pediphile. It is totally your choice. Do what you feel comfortable with.

  12. i shave but i am a swimmer so i sorta need too :D

it does itch a lot! but i guess you get used to it after a while, idk. just like wash it with soap to help with the itching.
