Public Assistance?

Did anyone know that if you receive food stamps and you buy a candy bar you don't have to pay taxes. If you pay cash you do (I'm in TX).

Do you think this is Fair?

I have nothing against anyone who receives needed assistance. It just surprised me!!

  1. In Arizona, no one pays taxes on food. First of all, it's the government's money and if they waive taxes on it that's up to them. Secondly, are you sure there are taxes on food?

  2. I did not know that!

I don't have a problem with a person receiving *temporary* assistance; I did for a few months.  What I do have a problem with, is people using their "assistance" to buy soda and candy.
