Public Forum Debate...?

Question

10 points to whoever can give me at least three pro and three con points for this month's debate topic really quick:

Resolved: That the United States would be justified in pursuing military options against Iran.

Make them sensible, please...

Well, I believe that we are already pursuing military options and that we have for some time now.

The pro's of actually going forward with a military reasoning are obvious to me that it would (1) eliminate a clear threat, not only to us but to the world. (2) In that it could lead to regime change as in Iraq, Iran would become an ally. (3) Even though an immediate post-war Iran would look much like the post war in Iraq, insurgents pouring in from everywhere to be martyred, the Iranian people would see that through their efforts and sacrifice what it means to earn and keep democracy. I don't believe you can just give someone democracy, they have to want it and earn it, which is a good thing.

The con's are obvious, too. (1) We just can't nuke them. We'd have to get dirty, especially during the post-war. There would be lots of bloodshed. (2) Indecisive military action would instantly lead to disastrous consequences should Iran take advantage of any lethal WMDs in their arsenal; Israel would be in a crucial position.(3) There would be outages of Kool-aid in every part of America where secular-progression is bought and sold through the media; Liberal extremism in America would be as if Halloween never ended, giving smelly, weirdo freaks the green light to come to your door step.

But, who knows?

Pro: 1) Make sure they understand it will not be US ground forces. It will be non-stop cruise missles until they comply.

2) For God sake this time make sure we have all the facts!

3) To show the rest of the world that we still do things the easy way or the hard way.

Cons

1) We do not have the reserve to send in ground troops.

2) They will have nukes

3) Other Nations will follow in Irans path if we don't stop them.
