What are some universities in the public ivy league? I know that UVA & UNC-Chapel Hill are included, what are some others? I am looking to apply for graduate education. Thank you.

  1. Actually, UVA and UNC-Chapel Hill are not members of the Ivy League.  However, they are excellent universities.  The Ivy League universities are:

    Brown University

    Columbia University

    Cornell University

    Dartmouth College

    Harvard University

    Princeton University

    University of Pennsylvania

    Yale University

Of these schools, the only public university is the University of Pennsylvania.

  2. If you're looking for graduate programs (I assume you already have a college degree), you should be looking more at the specific program than the general reputation of the college or university.  The rankings for specific programs are much different than overall rankings, and the program rankings are much more relevant to your education.

  3. I think the term Public Ivy League was a term coined by a journalist some time ago to show that schools other than Ivy Leagues are worth going to.

And the other person got it wrong, U Penn --> the University of Pennsylvania is very much a private school and should do his homework again.

In my list of the public ivy leagues:

    U Michigan

    UC Berkley

    UCLA

    UNC

    U VA

  4. It really makes little sense to look at the best pub;ic schools, because if you don't live in the state they're in, they'll save you little compared to private schools.

    Other top state schools are:

    Berkeley

    UMichigan

    Wisconsin

    UCLA
