  1. Hi,

I have a lot of experience marketing small companies online (I have 3 companies).  One of the best ways is to sign up at business directories and protals.  These are basically listings of businesses (simliar to the phone book).  The advantage is that these portals usually get a lot of traffic and they're ranked high on Google because of all the quality links they contain.

My favorite portal is called Directory Exclusive.  I signed up a few weeks ago because they're giving a away a free business card holder when a person enter's their company info.  I received it in the mail 3 days ago =)

I don't know if they still have that promotion, but you can try to get the free card holder here:

    Good Luck

  2. Peacock dances in the jungle but no one is aware where and when. No matter what event you have in which ever part of the world, if you don't inform public, they will not be aware of it. Information about your event is of value to various media as a content for their product (newspaper/magazine/radio/TV/internet etc.) Depending upone their audiance, media may have different angle for the same event eg.Music magazine may be iterested to know who is performing while Audio system journal may want to know what equiepment will be used. Same event may be of interest to hospitality industry to know how many people may gather and for how long. List will go on and on. You as a PR person understand their need and help them get the information they(media) want. In the bargain your event will get the coverage you need but you will still want to schedule and control the whole works so that you can arrange for the right hospitality to media persons. It could cover hotel bookings, food arrangements, transport, Fax/Telephones/internet connections, parking arrangements, security arrangements and issue of security passes. Schedulimg interviews with key people, briefing sessions - venue/time/durations etc. List is endless but one thing you have to bare in mind that what you need is positive reporting and not bad publicity because some one goofed up the arrangements.

  3. Who do you want to hear/see/attend the music festival?  How would you get their attention to inform them of the event?  How do you get your target audience to spend their hard earned money to attend?

Once there, what media will cover the event and how will they learn about it?  How do you compel the media to invest their resources to cover your event?

Public relations is about making someone or something so interesting that other people want to know more and/or participate.  It's getting the newspaper/radio/television reporters a hook that they can't resist, to come cover your event at no charge to your client.

That takes a great deal of thought, pre-planning, and precise organization.  You have to be familiar with the various news cycles, the appropriate editors who assign resources to stories, the format for news releases.  You have to call people up to let them know the news release is coming, call them up to be sure they received it, and again to see if they plan to act on it.  You have to make their jobs as easy as possible, so they are more likely to work with you now and in the future.

You have to look for stories, angles to exploit, tie-ins to other stories in the news and again, make a compelling pitch for your client.  (Oh, and then, since the story is the story, there is very little acknowledgment after the fact.  If the event goes well, then that's the way things should be.  If the event doesn't go well, the p/r person often gets the blame.)
